TaylorMade Waterproofing provided expert waterproofing services for the Beacon Isle Shopping Center, a popular hub in North Florida, Roodepoort, Gauteng. This comprehensive project involved addressing multiple areas, including parapet walls, box gutters, slabs, and a corrugated roof, ensuring the building’s long-term protection against water damage.
Completed in just 12 days, including a 2-day rain delay, the project demonstrated TaylorMade Waterproofing’s commitment to efficiency and quality, protecting one of Roodepoort’s key commercial landmarks

This project involved comprehensive waterproofing across multiple sections of the shopping center. Below is an outline of the tasks performed for each area:

The corrugated roof was prone to leaks due to loose bolts and overlapping seams. We provided a robust solution to secure the roof and prevent future water damage.
- Tightened and replaced loose bolts with self-tapping screws or pop rivets.
- Sealed vertical and horizontal overlaps with an acrylic waterproofing compound.
- Embedded a stitch bond polyester membrane and applied two final coats of acrylic compound.
- Completed the roof with a protective paint layer in the client’s chosen color.
Parapet walls were experiencing water penetration due to wear and tear. We applied a durable acrylic waterproofing system to enhance their resistance to moisture and weather.
- Cleaned and prepared the parapet walls.
- Applied an acrylic waterproofing compound to all bolts, overlaps, and potential weak points.
- Embedded a stitch bond polyester membrane for added strength.
- Finished with two final coats of acrylic waterproofing compound.
The box gutters were clogged and deteriorating, leading to drainage issues and water overflow. Our solution ensured seamless water flow and long-lasting protection.
- Removed old waterproofing and cleaned the gutters thoroughly.
- Applied Dara waterproofing compound and embedded a polyester membrane.
- Added two final coats of Dara to overlaps and bolts for maximum sealing.
- Coated with bituminous aluminum roof paint for additional protection.
The exposed concrete slabs required a reliable waterproofing system to prevent water seepage and damage. A heat-fused torch-on solution was used to ensure durability.
- Inspected and cleaned the slabs to remove debris and infected areas.
- Applied a bitumen primer to prepare the surface for waterproofing.
- Installed a 4mm torch-on waterproofing membrane using heat fusion.
- Protected the slab with a finishing coat of bituminous aluminum silver roof paint.
