This commercial roof waterproofing Roodepoort project was completed at Beacon Isle Shopping Centre, a large retail property in North Florida, Roodepoort.

The building has a pitched corrugated metal roof made up of several connected roof sections. The roof includes multiple hips, ridges, valleys, sheet overlaps, fastener lines, gutters, vents, wall interfaces, and transition points. 

The roof was ageing and in serious need of maintenance. The client’s goal was to renovate and upgrade the property while improving long-term protection against water ingress.

The solution combined:

  • Identifying vulnerable joints, overlaps, screws, ridges, valleys, and transitions
  • Embedding fabric reinforcement into the waterproofing layer
  • Applying acrylic waterproofing compound to critical roof points
  • Sealing the reinforced sections before the final roof coating

The white patched areas visible in the drone images show the first stage of the waterproofing work. These areas represent targeted waterproofing and reinforcement before the final grey roof coating was applied.

After the critical points were reinforced, the roof was completed with a full protective waterproof roof coating.

The final coating changed the roof from a visibly aged and patch-treated surface into a clean, uniform grey roof finish. This improved both the waterproofing performance and the visual appearance of the commercial property.

Working Around Weather Delays and an Active Commercial Site

Waterproofing During Renovation Without Disrupting Business Operations

This commercial roof waterproofing Roodepoort project took approximately two weeks to complete.

The site was not a closed construction site. Beacon Isle Shopping Centre was in a transition phase, with parts of the property being renovated while some businesses were still operating.
