TaylorMade Waterproofing was contracted to deliver expert waterproofing solutions for a residential roof in Johannesburg. The project primarily focused on the roof, with work on ridgecaps, board and torch waterproofing, and torch-on applications in box gutters. This comprehensive waterproofing ensured the roof’s long-term durability and resistance to Johannesburg’s unpredictable weather conditions.

Ridgecaps are a critical component of roof waterproofing, sealing the highest points of the roof to prevent water infiltration.
- Prepared and cleaned the ridgecaps for waterproofing.
- Applied a durable, weather-resistant sealant.
- Finished with a protective coating to enhance longevity.
This method was used to address areas prone to wear and leaks on the roof.
- Removed and replaced damaged boards with new chip boards.
- Secured the boards with self-tapping screws for stability.
- Applied a 4mm torch-on membrane using heat fusion for a watertight finish.
- Coated with a protective aluminum finish for additional weather resistance.
Torch-on waterproofing in the box gutters was crucial for seamless drainage and leak prevention.
- Thoroughly cleaned the gutters to prepare the surface.
- Applied a primer layer for optimal adhesion.
- Installed a 4mm torch-on membrane using heat fusion to create a watertight seal.
- Added a protective topcoat to extend the lifespan of the waterproofing.

Guarantee and Maintenance
The roof is now fully waterproofed, with robust solutions applied to ridgecaps, box gutters, and roof boards. The waterproofing ensures the roof can withstand heavy rains and harsh weather conditions, providing long-term protection for the property. All waterproofing work is covered by a five-year guarantee, and regular maintenance is recommended every 2.5 years to ensure continued performance.
